The Middlebelt Indigenous Christians Association (MICA) has condemned what it called “the heinous murder” of Rev. James Audu Issa, a cleric of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), by bandits in Kwara State, Nigeria.
Rev. Issa was taken from Ekati village in Patigi Local Government Area (LGA) on August 28 and was killed after the bandits collected Five Million Naira (N5,000,000.00) as ransom.
MICA, in a statement by Chief Moses Ogebe, National Coordinator, said the “senseless act of violence is appalling, especially given that the bandits collected a ransom of five million naira from the victim’s family, church, and community.”
The group is calling on the International community to prevail on the Federal Government of Nigeria “to take appropriate steps to protect the lives and properties of the Christian community that is increasingly becoming more endangered every day.”
MICA also extended condolences to the family, friends, and relations of the late Rev. Issa, as well as the ECWA community in Kwara State and beyond and pray for the peaceful repose of his soul.
