The 10th Benue Assembly, on Sunday, August 24, plenary lifted the suspension of its four members who were suspended “for conspiracy and attempt to cause chaos in the house.”
They include Hon. Alfred Emberga, Makurdi North (APC), Cyril Ekong, Oju II (APC), Terna Shimawua, Kyan (APC), and Hon. Abu Umoru, Apa.
The Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Saater Tiseer, Mbagwa (APC), who moved the motion, which was seconded by Hon Peter Ipusu, Katsina-Ala West (APC), said the four have shown gratitude for their actions.
Before today’s sitting, Mr. Speaker Hyacinth Dajoh resigned from his chair, “In good faith and in the best interest of the state.”
There were speculations that the Speaker may be impeached today and a new leadership elected.
His resignation will pave the way for a new speaker.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Speaker, Hon Lami Danladi Ogenyi, is presiding over today’s sitting.
