Shaku emerges Benue ALGON chairman

The Chairman of Katsina-Ala Local Government Council (LGC), Dr Justine Shaku, has emerged as the new Chairman of the Association of Local Government Councils of Nigeria (ALGON), Benue State chapter.

Dr Shaku was unanimously elected at a meeting of the association held at ALGON House, Makurdi, on Friday, August 14, following the resignation of the former chairman, Mr Vitalis Neji of Kwande Local Government Area (LGA), on personal grounds.

Until his election, Dr Shaku served as the association’s Welfare Secretary.

In his acceptance remarks, the new ALGON chairman pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him, assuring members that he would not betray their trust.

Other officers elected were the Chairman of Ado LGC, Engr. Sunny Oche, who emerged Treasurer, while the Chairman of Konshisha LGC, Mr. Moses Chikyaa, was elected Welfare Secretary.

The position of Welfare Secretary became vacant after Shaku was elevated to Chairman.

Chairman of Agatu LGC and Deputy ALGON Leader, Mr Melvin Ejeh, read the communiqué issued by the association after the election.
