I have capacity to support Fr. Alia’s vision for our people – Dr. Apera

Date:

Former Country Director, Family Health Int’l 360 and frontline aspirant for the Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency election, Dr. Iorwakwagh Apera, has said that he has the capacity to support Benue State Governor, Fr. Hyacinth Alia, to deliver on his vision for the people, not just of his constituency, but also the people of the state.

With decades of leadership across government, development partners, and international organisations, Dr Apera is said to bring a rare combination of development expertise, governance experience, and partnership-building capacity to add value to the polity and the welfare of the people.

Speaking with journalists at a Press Conference in Makurdi, Benue State capital, recently, Dr Apera said that as a homegrown person, he is well-equipped to represent his people and “to support the good work the governor is doing.”

“Makurdi is now a construction site. It’s a good development, and we need to support him (the governor),” Dr Apera asserted.

Dr Apera, who identified key challenges of the people of Makurdi/Guma to include poverty and insecurity, is concerned that the people are heading towards food insecurity due to displacement from their homes.

He is, however, consoled that, if supported to win the election to the House of Representatives, he would facilitate the establishment of programmes that would support communities in building resilience.

According to Dr Apera, under his representation, projects will be tailored to support vulnerable communities through his food security programmes, skills-acquisition programmes, efficient and sustainable energy programmes, and other programmes that will positively impact the people of Makurdi/Guma.

He said his approach will focus on continuous engagement with communities, aggregating community needs and priorities, advocating effectively within government and development partners, and delivering measurable outcomes.
