Minister of Defence and immediate past Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa (Retd) has charged Major General Raymond Utsaha and other newly decorated senior officers to confront emerging security threats in the country with fresh resolve.
General Musa (retd) gave the charge during his remarks as the Special Guest of Honour, at the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess 1, Asokoro, Abuja, where General Utsaha and 27 Brigadier Generals were elevated to the rank of Major General, including a posthumous promotion.
The immediate past Chief of Defence Staff praised the officers for their courage, professionalism, and years of selfless sacrifice. He noted that their elevation underscores their consistent commitment to national security and the collective effort to strengthen the Nigerian Army.
General Musa (retd), who emphasised the need for deeper inter-service cooperation, enhanced intelligence sharing and unity of effort across all security agencies, said the new roles of the generals place them in pivotal positions to shape the strategic trajectory of the Army.
The minister acknowledged the indispensable support of the officers’ families and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to improving personnel welfare.
Justice APB Utsha (retd), former President of Customary Court of Appeal Makurdi, and the siblings of General Utsaha attended the ceremony.
