The Benue State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has called on its members and loyal supporters across the state to remain calm and steadfast amid the current challenges confronting the umbrella party.
There was a free-for-all fight at the Wadata Plaza national headquarters of the PDP when members of the party loyal to Senator Kabiru Tanimu Turaki clashed with a pro-Nyesom Wike group. Former Benue State Governor and leader of the party in the state, Chief Samuel Ortom, was shown the way out of the National Executive Council (NEC) Hall of the party.
PDP Publicity Secretary in Benue State, Mr Tim Nyor, in a statement, acknowledged concerns about “disagreements and misunderstandings” within the party and urged members of the PDP in the state “to stay united, focused, and committed to the values and vision” of the party.
According to Mr. Nyor, “All the issues at hand are internal matters; a family affair, and will be resolved as such. Our party has a longstanding tradition of collective dialogue, mutual respect, and genuine reconciliation, and we remain committed to these principles.”
His statement, therefore, urged PDP members in Benue State “To refrain from negative commentary or actions that could escalate tensions or widen existing cracks.
“Instead, we encourage everyone to support ongoing efforts geared toward restoring unity and strengthening the bonds that hold us together.”
Meanwhile, it’s expulsion galore as the two factions of the PDP continue to oust the party’s bigwigs from opposing groups.
