2027: Assembly Leader makes case for Fr. Alia, promises more dividends for Kwande West

Date:

Majority Leader of the 10th Benue Assembly, Hon Thomas Dugeri, Kwande West (APC), has urged the people of Kwande to support Fr. Hyacinth Alia, Executive Governor of Benue State, for a second term of office to enable the governor to consolidate on his development strides in the state.

Hon. Dugeri, who made the call in an exclusive interview with TNT at the weekend in his office, also appealed to the people of Kwande West to continue to exercise faith in democracy and the political system in the state.

He explained that the most important thing about democracy is translating the people’s aspirations into projects that will have a positive impact on them.

“The people should be patient with the governor who has put Benue on a positive trajectory of development. We believe if he is given another four years, he will catalyse development in the state to apogee height. What he has done so far is unprecedented in the history of the state,” Hon. Dugeri stated.

The Majority Leader highlighted the construction of a 400-capacity council hall for the Ishangev-Ya Area Traditional Council, five bridges and culverts within his constituency to enable free movement of goods and services, scholarship to students, registration of Unified Tertiary Mateiculation Examination (UTME) for candidates from his constituency, distribution of free exercise books to pupils in basic schools wothin his constituency, and facilitation of appointment of 50 constituents as some of his achievements that give him the confidence that with time, he would do more for his people.

“We have a constituency office in Adikpo where our people come frequently to relax and also present their requests and expectations. At the end of every month, we look at their requests and address them based on available resources and in order of need,” Hon. Dugeri said.

He explained that, while everyone can be satisfied, he is open to assisting those who come to him for help.

“It is always good to embark on people-oriented projects – projects that will touch a larger number of people, even though individual needs are also important. For instance, if you construct a borehole, it will serve a wider community and benefit many people. Likewise, if you construct a bridge. So, to me, it’s better to serve communities.

“Of course, in my constituency office, I ask people to write their needs so that every month we identify the people with pressing issues and attend to them,” he explained.
