Sometimes just be a rebel to get things right – Sen Natasha

Date:

Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti, on Tuesday morning, November 4, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), expressed an apparent mood of frustration, suggesting that sometimes one has to be a rebel to get things right.

In a live video update on her verified Meta account, Sen. Akpoti accused President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, of having “instructed the comptroller general (of immigration) to seize” her passport at the airport, preventing her from travelling.

Following the live update, which is now viral, an immigration officer was seen handing her the passport.

“Thank you very much,” Sen Akpoti said while receiving her passport.

“Sometimes I feel you just have to be a rebel to get things right,” she went on and was quick to ask: “Then you keep asking Nigerians to be good citizens? If I had not gone public, would you have given me my passport?”

This is not the first time her passport has been withheld at the airport. In the first instance, Sen. Akpoti, who is taking a one-week break after celebrating her second anniversary in the Senate, said it was the call of “someone influential” that led to the release of her passport.

“The last time this happened the officer in-charge told me that the Senate President Godswill Akpabio instructed them to withhold my passport and prevent me from travelling because he said each time I travelled out of the country I smear the country’s image by granting interviews out in the international media,” Sen Akpoti stated.
