Former Benue State Governor, Senator Gabriel Suswam, is grateful for the concerns trailing his trial before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), his media Aide, Mr Bede Bartholomew, has said in a statement.
Senator Suswam is standing trial over allegations of N3.1 billion fraud, said to have been committed while he served as Governor of Benue State. He served as governor from May 2007 to May 2015.
During his oral testimony before Justice Peter Lifu on Wednesday, October 23, the former governor denied stealing public funds.
Mr. Bede, in a statement after the hearing, said, “I can assure you that everything is progressing smoothly, and updates will be shared at the appropriate time.” He added that for legal reasons, he is maintaining strategic silence and cannot “respond to the malicious propaganda spread by a few individuals intent on tarnishing the image of the former governor.
“As we seek God’s intervention, we are grateful for your concerns and appreciate everything.
“Thank you all so much. Your continued love and support are not taken for granted,” Mr. Bede said.
