Rights lawyer and attorney at Iorwase Ahile and Co., Terfa Jirgba, Esq, has indicated interest in joining the protest to push for the release of Mr Nnamdi Kanu, the secessionist leader, who is held in detention over terrorism charges.
Former presidential candidate and owner of Sahara Reporters, Mr Omoyele Sowore, is mobilising Nigerians to march on Aso Rock Villa on October 20 to press the Nigerian government to free the pro-Biafra leader. The campaign is tagged: Free Nnamdi Kanu Now.
Jirgba, Esq., in a letter to Sowore, dated October 16, stated that he is “particularly concerned about the selective application of justice” in Nigeria.
He argued that “the Court of Appeal has freed Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,” asserting that no law supports Mr Kanu’s “present trial at the Federal High Court.”
“It is his constitutional right to agitate for the rights and freedom of his people, the Biafran nation,” the rights lawyer further stated.
Jirgba explained that, as a legal practitioner, it is his duty to uphold the rule of law and ensure that the rights of all citizens are protected.
He, therefore, called on other rights lawyers to join the “noble cause.”
