Former Benue State Governor and Benue North East Senator, Dr Gabriel Suswam, is not joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), as speculated, Mr Bede Bartholomew, Media Aide to Dr Suswam, has stated in a press release.
Since joining partisan politics in 1998, Dr Suswam remained in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) until July this year, when he defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Today’s speculation, if anything is to be believed, would suggest that the former governor has changed three party platforms within a period of three months.
However, Mr Bede said the speculations should be treated as a mere rumour, but went on to admit that the former governor would be attending a pre-decamping dinner “slated for 10th October 2025” at the Makurdi Government House tonight.
Mr. Bede was quick to add that “as a former Governor of the State, Suswam is a stakeholder in the Benue project, thus his reason for accepting the invitation.
“There was no indication in the invitation letter that it was a political event or a decamping ceremony whatsoever.
“The former governor advises his supporters and well-wishers to disregard this rumour as it is baseless, aimless, and a lie from the deepest pit of hell.
“Suswam appreciates everyone who called in for further enquiries and concerns and wishes everyone a happy weekend ahead.”
Statesmen, including Prof. David Iornem, Dr Cletus Tyokyaa, and Dr Paul Orhii, are due to attend a pre-decamping dinner for Rep. Ojotu Ojema, Apa/Agatu (PDP), and Rt. Hon. Anthony Agon, Okpokwu (PDP), who is due to join the APC.
