It has emerged that the lone member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives from Benue State, Rep. Ojotu Ojema, is set to join the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).
There are ten House of Representatives seats from Benue State, with the APC claiming nine in the last general election. With Rep. Ojotu’s decision to join the APC, the PDP now has only one out of 13 National Assembly seats from the state – Senator Patrick Aba Moro, representing Benue South, and the Senate Minority Leader.
Olikita Ekani, Media Aide to Rep. Ojotu, told TNT that the federal lawmaker will formally join the ranks of progressive lawmakers next week when the House convenes for plenary.
Rep Ojotu, a pastor, served as Commissioner for Youth and Sport during the former Governor Samuel Ortom administration, a position he resigned to contest the 2023 Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency election.
Also set to join APC is Senator Moro’s representative in the Benue State Assembly, Mr Agom Anthony, Okpokwu State Constituency (PDP).
