Egyptian Cairo: BEQA launches investigation into “indecent musical performance” in a Benue school

Date:

The Bureau for Education Quality Assurance (BEQA), Makurdi, Benue State, has launched a “full-scale investigation” into “indecent musical performance” in a school in the state by Mr Ngutor Hunde, known by the stage name of Egyptian Cairo.

In a video posted on his verified Facebook account, Egyptian Cairo was seen leading students of a school to his infamous “Uzagighir” track. He was in Logo Local Government Area (LGA) for a “Togo music concert.”

Dr Terna Francis, Director-General (DG) of BEQA, in a statement, said that a preliminary investigation has identified the school as Foundation College, Abeda Shitile, Logo LGA.

According to the DG, BEQA views the “incident as a serious breach of the ethical and moral standards expected within educational institutions and as being at variance with the principles of quality assurance in education.”

In appealing for calm from members of the public, Dr Terna stated that the findings from the investigation will be forwarded to the Honourable Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management for appropriate administrative action.
