The Governor of Benue State, Fr. Hyacinth Alia, is making unprecedented strides in developing infrastructure, education, health, and improving the welfare of the people of the state and needs the support of the people to continue to deliver on his mandate. These and more formed part of the briefing on security and development efforts of the Fr. Alia led the government of Benue State to the All Progressives Congress party in Gwer West Local Government Area.
Retired Col Alexander Igbaya Ashungu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Security (External), who convened the briefing, told the APC family that in view of the governor’s genuine love and commitment to improving security and his welfarist approach to governance, it was incumbent on the party faithful in the Benue North West Local Government to rally support for his re-elecrion in 2027.
He explained that the governor’s love for the people is evident in appointing several Gwer West sons to positions of responsibility, which previous administrations have never done. Retired Col Ashingu also highlighted the governor’s efforts in checking killings and other atrocities caused by armed Fulani herdsmen, assuring that soon, the people will be free from attacks.
In his remarks, Reverend Dr. Freddrick Ikyaan, Honourable Commissioner for Lands and Survey, called for unity of purpose in Gwer West to give development a chance. He explained that because Fr. Alia stands for the development of the people and the state, it behoves the people to unite and rally support for him to actualise his vision and mission for the state.
On his part, Hon. Donald Kumun, Principal Special Assistant to the Governor, Print Media, commended Retired Colonel Anshungu for conveying the briefings, describing him as a man of peace who has thought it wise to open the door for reconciliation and unity in Gwer West.
According to Hon Kumun, unity and peace are key to development. In view of the Governor’s determination to deliver a Benue that is the dream of all, the people need to forgo their differences and work in the overriding interest of the public.
He commended Fr. Alia for his love and development efforts while assuring the people of Gwer West that the governor has more in store for them.
Other speakers at the briefing, including Hon Anta Igbaato, General Manager Benue State Environmental Sanitation Authority, Hon Ormin Torsar, Executive Chairman Gwer West Local Government Council, and a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Goddy Ikyereve, commended Retired Colonel Anshungu for his thoughtfulness and urged other governor appointees to emulate him.
Earlier in his welcome address, the All Progressives Congress Chairman, Gwer West Local Government Area, Hon. Asanyi Donatus, on behalf of his Executive Council, thanked the Security Adviser for inciting the party faithful in his home local area to give a progress report of the Fr. Alia administration. He urged the attendees to take home the message received at the briefing so that the people at the grassroots will be informed of the governor’s achievements.
All Progressives Congress Executive Council members in Gwer West, elected councillors, the Governor’s Link men, and other party stakeholders in Gwer West attended the meeting at Bem Hotel, Makurdi.
