Nigerians living in Nigeria will now part with One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) and Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000.00) in Passport Application fees for a 32-page Passport with 5-year validity and 64-page Passport with 10-year validity.
Service Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Assistant Comptroller of Immigration (ACI) Akinsola Akinlabi, who announced this in a statement issued on August 28, said the development is in a bid to uphold the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Passport.
The new rates will take effect from September 1.
No changes are, however, made in respect of Nigerian passport application fees made by Nigerians in diaspora. Fees for Passport Applications from Nigerians in the diaspora “remain unchanged at $150 (N229,500.00) for a 32-page with 5-year validity and $230 (N351,900.00) for 64-page with 10-year validity.”
Prior to the new development, the fees for a 32-page Nigerian passport with a 5-year validity was Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000. 00) Only while a 64-page Nigerian passport with 10-year validity was Seventy Thousand Naira (N70,000.00) Only.
According to the statement by ACI Akinlabi, the NIS is committed “to balancing quality service delivery with the need to ensure Passport services are accessible to all Nigerians.”
