NSCDC inaugurates committee for review of gender policy

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has inaugurated a Committee to review its Gender Policy, signalling a renewed commitment to gender equity, inclusiveness, and institutional strengthening across the board, CSC Afilabi Babawale, the Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, says in a statement.

NSCDC Commandant General (CG) Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni, OFR, in inaugurating the committee, emphasised the importance of sustaining the Gender Policy and called for collective efforts to improve its reach and impact in the Corps. He was represented by the Deputy Commandant General, Technical Services, DCG Zakari Ningi.

Chair of the Committee, ACG Christiana Abiakam, saluted the CG for the trust and opportunity to lead the review process.

She pledged to coordinate a diligent and inclusive review process that would reflect the values and vision of the Corps.

Professor Tyoor M. Terhemba, the lead consultant for the review, described the Gender Policy as a living document.

He stressed the importance of institutional ownership, stakeholder engagement, and evidence-based revisions to ensure a more inclusive and gender-responsive NSCDC.

The inauguration was well attended by the top management staff of the Corps, who all reaffirmed their delight in the policy review.
