IDPs Stage Protest in Guma, Demand Governor’s Attention

Date:

GUMA, BENUE STATE — Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at a camp in Guma Local Government Area have staged a protest at Gbajimba demanding the immediate presence of the state governor.

According to our correspondent who was on the scene, the protest began approximately three hours ago and is still ongoing as at the time of filing this report.

The IDPs, visibly agitated, were seen chanting in Tiv, “Se se kpe Iorpuu Aya tar,” a plea interpreted to mean “We will die let iorpuu (ES SEMA) enjoy”.

The protest is believed to be linked to worsening living conditions in the camp and the community’s growing frustration over what they describe as continued neglect.

More details to follow.
