Fr. Alia returns to Benue after BRICS summit

Benue State Governor, Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has returned to the state after a highly impactful diplomatic mission, first at the 2025 BRICS Summit in Brazil, and then at the prestigious African Achievers Awards held at the United Kingdom (UK) Parliament in London.

The governor accompanied President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) to BRICS as part of Nigeria’s delegation and was engaged with world leaders on strengthening global cooperation, with Benue State taking the spotlight in agro-industrialisation

“Our strategic discussions with partners in agriculture, energy, technology, trade, and industrial development are already opening new doors for investment and collaboration,” Fr. Alia said.

“From Brazil to the UK, I carried with me the dreams and aspirations of the Benue people. At the African Achievers Awards in London, I was honoured with the Award for Excellence in Rural Development and named Champion of Women and Youth Inclusion.

“This award is for YOU, the hardworking farmers, youth, and strong women of our dear state,” the governor explained.

Upon arrival in Nigeria, he was received by the Benue State All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Chief Benjamin Omale; Secretary to the State Government, Dcns. Deborah Aber, the Commissioner for Works, Hon. Tiza Imojime, Benue ALGON Chairman, Hon. Maurice Orwough, members of the Benue State House of Assembly, and other top government officials.
