Former Nigerian President Mohammadu Buhari (PMB) has been buried in his hometown Daura, Katsina State. His successor, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, paid his last respects and watched on from a distance as PMB’s body was lowered into his grave.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, who accompanied the remains of the former president from London to Nigeria, is among the dignitaries at the graveside.
Buhari, a former military administrator, minister, Head of State, Chairman Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF), and elected president, died in a London clinic on July 13. He was flown into the country via Musa Umar Yar’Adua International Airport, Katsina State, before making the journey to his final resting place.
His body, draped in the colours of the Nigerian flag, was wheeled in a gurney to the graveside by military pallbearers.
President Tinubu, leaders of Guinea Bissau and Niger, serving and ex-ministers, state governors attended the state funeral.
