TNT can report that the Social Media Digest Summit (SMDS) has continued to receive endorsements from Very Important Persons (VIPs) ahead of its 6th edition, scheduled to be held on November 13.
Prominent amongst the most recent endorsements are from His Eminence Prof James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, Tor Tiv, and Honourable Minister for Youth Development, Mr Ayodele Olawande.
The theme of this year’s Social Media Digest Summit is: The Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in leveraging social media.
Prof. Ayatse, who received the SMDS Team led by the Convener, Mr. Jacob Wuese, recently in his Gboko Palace, gave his royal blessings.
He urged the youth to always make use of social media platforms positively and avoid using same to spread fake news and hate, acts the king said are capable of escalating the already tensed security situation in Benue State and country.
Mr. Olawande, on the other hand, said the “summit continues to stand out as one of the most forward-thinking platforms empowering Nigerian youth through digital innovation and strategic conversations around social media evolution.”
Commenting on the summit’s theme, Mr. Olawande said AI is “reshaping how societies interact, communicate, and conduct business, particularly in the realm of social media.”
According to Mr. Olawande, by centring the 2025 summit on AI, the organisers are “not only addressing a global shift but also giving Nigerian youth a competitive edge in understanding and utilising cutting-edge tools for personal and professional advancement.
“As the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, I recognise and appreciate the critical role your summit plays in shaping informed, digitally aware, and technologically empowered young citizens. Initiatives like this align perfectly with the Ministry’s broader vision to prepare our youth for leadership in the digital economy.”
According to Mr. Wuese, the 2025 SMDS is expected to feature panel discussions, community interventions, and recognition of outstanding contributions to youth development and digital excellence.
