Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, is due to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Opay Digital Services for scholarship of N60m over a period of 10 years.
The development is the result of the drive towards creating more opportunities for the indigent and brilliant students of the University by the university’s Centre for Advancement and Linkages, Dr. Elijah Ikpanor, Director of the Centre, says in a statement.
He explained that his Centre has worked on an MoU with Opay Digital Services, where 20 university students will each “receive N300, 000 as tuition and support annually. The partnership is for the initial period of 10 years.”
According to Dr. Ikpanor, the decision was communicated to the university during a courtesy visit by the Opay delegation led by Dr. Maxwell Loko, Vice President, Public & Government Affairs and Dr. James Vandefan, Chief Security Officer of Opay Digital Services.
The scholarship is intended to benefit the indigent but brilliant students of the university, “who must have a GPA/CGPA of over 3.5.” It is effective for the 2024/2025 academic session.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joe Tor Iorapuu, was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Prof. Mike Odugbo Odey. He commended Opay Digital Services for their support and commitment to uplifting the education of university students in Nigeria and Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University in particular.
