Nigeria’s Minister for Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Utsev, has charged the Chairmen of Boards and Executive Management teams of the twelve River Basin Development Authorities (RBDAs) in the country to work as a team and in synergy to successfully implement the flagship programmes initiated by the ministry to accelerate food security, job creation, youth empowerment, economic growth, and development in the country.
Prof. Utsev gave the advice on Friday, 2nd May 2025, during the inauguration of the boards and the management teams of the RBDAs.
Appointment on the boards and the management teams has come at a critical time when the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was working tirelessly to accelerate food production in the country to ensure that every Nigerian has food to eat and clean water to drink at no cost, Prof. Utsev went on while urging the appointees to show unwavering commitment and dedication to their new positions to justify the confidence reposed in them by Mr. President.
The Minister reminded them of the River Basin’s Act and Water Resources Master Plan, including the policy which they must understand to enable them to draw the strategic direction and innovative ideas that would revolutionise the sector.
Terhemen Oraduen, Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Honourable Minister, quotes his principal in a statement as urging the chairmen, members of the boards, and their management teams to be deliberate in expanding irrigated farms across the river basins and encouraging farmers within their catchment areas to ensure all-year-round agriculture.
