The Akawe Torkula Polytechnic (ATPOLY) Makurdi and AutoGas have signed Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) for the purpose of converting petrol-run engines to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
Dr. Martins Agena, Rector ATPOLY, signed on behalf of the polytechnic while Hajia Mariam Salihu, General Manager AutoGas, signed on behalf of her company at the end of a five-day Benue State National Gas Expansion Programme Stakeholders Consultative Forum in Makurdi, the state capital.
AutoGas specialises in training mechanics for the purpose of converting petrol-run vehicles to CNG.
According to Dr. Agena, the signing of the MoU is in line with the commitment of the Fr. Hyacinth Alia-led government, to ensure that the state is not left behind in the National Gas Expansion Programme (NGEP).
Dr. Agena explained that going by the MoU, AutoGas will train ATPOLY’s staff, who will in turn train more technicians for the success of the programme in the state.
“It has become pertinent for us to work with them (AutoGas) for the purpose of manpower training for the conversion kits. They will train our staff who will in turn, train other technicians,” says Dr. Agena.
He says the training will commence in the first quarter of next year.
