Area Tax Officers (ATOs) and Unit Heads of the Benue Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) have completed a one-day training workshop on effective and efficient tax administration.
The training is organised by the office of Ambassador Jennifer Gbishe—Igoh, the Consultant on grassroots mobilisation, Sensitisation, and Advocacy.
Mr. Sunday Odagba, Acting Chairman of BIRS, while declaring the workshop open on Wednesday, 16th April 2025, at the Nnam Hall and Hotel Makurdi, said the trained officers are expected to cascade the training to those working under them.
He explained that the essence of the training is to refresh the staff’s memories and share ideas on trends in tax administration, which can improve tax administration.
The acting chairman urged the staff to cultivate good manners of approach that will convince the people of the state to pay tax.
Ambassador Gbishe-Igoh, in her welcome speech, thanked the ATOs and United Heads for availing themselves of the training.
She also commended the management of the tax agency for providing an enabling environment for the training and urged the trainees to apply the knowledge acquired during the training to improve tax administration in the state.
