Two scholars of the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM), have been listed among the World’s Top 2% Scientists for 2026, in recognition of their research productivity and global scholarly impact.
The scholars are Dr Peverga Rex Jubu of Applied Physics and Prof. Saganuwan Alhaji Saganuwan of Veterinary Sciences.
The recognition, according to the university, is based on internationally standardised bibliometric indicators measuring scholarly productivity, research impact and citation performance.
Prof. Saganuwan’s research contributions span veterinary pharmacology, toxicology, pharmacokinetics and related fields, while Dr Jubu has contributed significantly to research in Applied Physics.
Vice-Chancellor of JOSTUM, Prof. Isaac Itodo, described the recognition as a major achievement for the university, saying it demonstrates the growing international visibility of research from the institution.
He said the university administration remained committed to creating an environment where research, innovation and academic excellence could thrive.
“A university is ultimately measured not only by the number of students it graduates, but also by the knowledge it generates and the impact its scholars make on humanity,” Prof. Itodo said.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the two scholars on the feat, describing their recognition as a source of pride to JOSTUM and urging other academics to intensify their research efforts.
He said the achievement further strengthens the university’s ambition of taking its rightful place on the global academic map.
