US Defence Secretary promises ‘most intense’ day of war on Iran

Date:

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has said that today will be the “most intense” of the US strikes on Iran.

He also said Iran has fired the fewest number of missiles in a 24-hour period since the war began.

However, a top Iranian security official warns Donald Trump on social media: “Be careful, so that you won’t get eliminated.”

Last Monday, President Donald Trump said the war was “very far ahead of schedule” and “very complete, pretty much.”

The price of oil, which had surged past $100 a barrel on Monday, dipped closer to $90 after his remarks.

Meanwhile, the British warship HMS Dragon has left Portsmouth and is heading to Cyprus.

A week ago, UK PM Keir Starmer confirmed that the Type 45 Destroyer would be deployed to the Mediterranean region, after a drone struck the runway at the RAF Akrotiri base in Cyprus, causing what the Ministry of Defence (MoD) described as “minimal damage.”

It is understood that the Royal Navy has no major warships in the Mediterranean.
