Anthony Joshua injured in deadly car crash in Nigeria, two killed

Date:

British boxer Anthony Joshua is injured in a car crash near Lagos, Nigeria. Two persons have been confirmed killed in the accident.

Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua, a two-time world heavyweight champion, was born in Watford, England, and has family roots in Sagamu, a town in Ogun State, Nigeria. He has often spoken proudly about his Nigerian heritage.

The heavy weight champion was taken to hospital following minor injuries, though the Police said he is “fine.”

It is suspected that Joshua’s vehicle crashed into a stationary lorry while overtaking at speed.

Online pictures show Joshua’s badly damaged car and a dented lorry that his car collided with. An online video showed Joshua, evidently in pain, being pulled out of the wreck.

Anthony Joshua’s family is shocked by the incident. According to a reports, Joshua normally visits Nigeria around the new year.

During his fights, the Nigerian flag is regularly displayed alongside the Union Jack in the ring, including after his victory against Jake Paul earlier in the month.
