No assassination attempt on Lt. Yerima- Police

Date:

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has said there was no attempt to assassinate Lieutenant Ahmed Yerima, a Naval Officer in FCT.

It emerged on Sunday, November 16, that there was an attempt to assassinate Lt. Yerima, who, earlier last week, engaged in altercations with FCT Minister Mr Nyesom Wike over access to land.

The police said news of an attempt to assassinate the military officer was “false and unverified.”

Superintendent of Police (SP) Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the FCT Command, in a statement on Monday, November 17, said no such incident has been reported or recorded anywhere within the FCT.

The Command therefore urged members of the public to disregard the information and stop spreading unverified claims that could cause public panic.
