The United States Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, has warned Fulani terrorists, ISWAP, and other terrorist groups operating in Nigeria that there will be no negotiations when the US forces come to the rescue of Christians in Nigeria.
Last week, US President Donald Trump listed Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) and directed the Department of War to prepare for war against terrorists in Nigeria. He cited widespread killings of Christians to justify his action.
“To Boko Haram, ISWAP, and the Fulani militants: You have targeted Christians because you believed no one would come to their defence. You were wrong. The United States military is the most lethal fighting force in human history, and we are coming for you. There will be no negotiations. There will be no warnings. There will be no sanctuary,” Hegseth warned in his “Message to the American People and the World.”
According to Hegseth, what American forces are preparing to do in Nigeria “is not reckless, it is righteous.”
“I have spent my adult life studying warfare and practising it. I have led men in combat. I have made life-and-death decisions under fire. I know the difference between necessary force and reckless aggression. What we are preparing to do in Nigeria is not reckless, it is righteous,” he explained.
He was clear: “The killers should know this… American warriors do not sleep. Our satellites see you. Our drones hunt you. Our operators train for you. You cannot hide in your jungles or your deserts or your mountains. When you hear the Reaper overhead, you may fall to your knees and beg for divine intervention. I have news for you… God heard your victims’ prayers first. We are His answer.
“The world is watching to see if America still has the courage of its convictions.”
Meanwhile, Nigerian security forces have stepped up the fight against terrorists, recording gains across the country.
