Disregard news of new VC at MOAUM- Gov’s CPS

Date:

The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor of Benue State, Sir Tersoo Kula, has urged the public to disregard any news of the appointment of a Vice-Chancellor (VC) for Rev Fr Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MOAUM) by the Visitor, Fr. Hyacinth Alia, Executive Governor of Benue State.

Social media is abuzz with speculation that Fr. Alia has named Rev. Prof. Vitalis Torwel, a former Head of Department and Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, as the new VC.

However, Sir Kula, in a statement issued on Monday, November 3, stated that the process for appointing a new VC for the university is ongoing.

“It (the process) must be completed, and a public announcement of the new helmsman shall be made by the Visitor to the University, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.

At the moment, there is an Acting VC in place,” part of the statement reads.

The CPS, therefore, urged the public to take note and “disregard any unfounded rumour.”

A new VC for the university was expected today as the tenure of the incumbent, Prof. Joe Iorapuu, expires.
