The Benue State Commissioner for Youth, Sport and Creativity, Mr Tiza Isaac Imojime, has assured that Lobi Stars Football Club (FC) is “not starting over,” asserting that the club is “starting stronger.”
Lobi Stars FC was relegated from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) to the Nigeria National League (NNL) last season.
On Thursday, October 23, Fr. Hyacinth Alia, Executive Governor of Benue State, announced the dissolution of the club’s board.
Sir Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, in a statement made available to journalists in Makurdi, the state capital, said the governor’s decision is aimed at repositioning the club for greater efficiency, accountability, and better performance.”
“We are set to rebirth our football (club) and take back our prideful spot in African football,” Mr Tiza said after he was directed to take charge of the club’s activities.
According to Mr Tiza, “Lobi Stars is more than a football club. It’s a spirit, a family, a symbol of the unbreakable Benue will.”
