Akor Adams wins it for Sevilla

Date:

Although Rayo gave it their all in a thrilling match on Sunday, Nigerian striker Akor Adams dealt a blow to their hopes by smashing home the winner in the 87th minute to seal a crucial win for Sevilla.

It’s the Nigerian’s first-ever LaLiga goal, with commentators saying it couldn’t have come at a better time.

Sevilla wrote after the match: “It was a very difficult match away at Rayo, but we waited for our moment and scored as Akor scored with our first shot on goal, three minutes from time, to win the game.”

The club went on to say, “It was another important away win, as we took all three points from the Campo de Fútbol de Valllecas with a precise goal from Akor, Almeyda’s side’s first shot on target of the entire match, with only three minutes remaining.”

Akor’s 87th-minute goal has put Almeyda’s team in a comfortable position in the table, with ten points ahead of next weekend’s game in Nervión against FC Barcelona.
