Ex-Radio Benue DG celebrates birthday with call for mass voter registration

Date:

Erstwhile General- Manager (GM), Radio Benue Corporation, Dr. Charles Iornumbe a.k.a The Grait Vuvuzela, has called on the people of the state to turn out enmass and participate in this year’s Continous Voter Registration (CVR) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Dr. Iornumbe made the call after visiting the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, as part of activities marking his 48th birthday anniversary celebration.

Earlier this month, INEC announced the commencement of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) Exercise Nationwide as an essential step in ensuring the active participation of Nigerians in the upcoming elections and encouraged all eligible voters to take part. The exercise is expected to run from Monday, August 18, 2025 (online) to Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Physical/On-site registration at any of the registration centres started on Monday, August 25, 2025.

Dr. Iornumbe also met with Dr. Livinus Tyodoo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Pension Matters, and the fraternity of Tiv cultural enthusiasts.

He said it was necessary for those who have come of eligible voting age and those who have never registered for the exercise in their entire life time but are of voting age to do so in order to participate in electing their leaders.

Dr. Iornumbe, a man of many parts, was appointed as the DG of Radio Benue Corporation in 2021 by former Governor Samuel Ortom. He holds a Doctorate degree in Linguistics and is from Konshisha Local Government Area (LGA), Benue State.

In 2015, he was deployed from the Environment Programme of Radio Benue to Makurdi Government House as a Correspondent.

Dr. Iornumbe sees himself as a normal human, like any other, created by Jehovah God. But he did something uncommon: He developed himself while in service, joining the services of Radio Benue less than a decade after completing his Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) studies.

At 48, Dr. Iornumber said he has “chosen happiness over bitterness even in the face of outright provocation to allow God’s will to prevail.”
