Nigeria’s international, Ordega, plans football championship for Benue IDPs

Date:

Nigeria’s International and Super Falcons Forward, Francisca Mlumun Ordega, has said she will be organising a football tournament for female Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Benue State.

Ordega, five-time Wafcon Champion, stated this earlier on Wednesday, August 7, when she visited IDPs at the Makurdi International Market, where they are taking shelter.

She explained that the tournament would be organised in collaboration with Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC).

No date has been fixed for the tournament yet. She told the IDPs that she hoped to see a future Ordega amongst them.

Ordega has represented the Nigerian women’s national football team at all levels at both the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the African Women’s Championship.

The five-time champion was once nominated for the best female African footballer.

After the 2024 Wafcon victory, Ordega and her teammates were conferred with the National honour of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
