Fr. Alia dissolves cabinet, appoints Barr. Atagher as new CoS

Date:

The Governor of Benue State, Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has dissolved the Benue State Executive Council, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) Sir Tersoo Kula has said in a statement.

According to the statement, Barr. Moses Atagher, who served as Commissioner for Justice between 1997 and 98, has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff (CoS).

Sir Kula said that the governor announced the decision at the close of the 12th (2025) meeting of the Benue State Executive Council.

He explained that the Governor appreciated all the former Commissioners who worked with him for two years. He called on those who may not be called back or reappointed to stay in the party and continue to liaise with the system, as they are only paving the way for other citizens who may be chosen to replace them and contribute their quota.

“Apart from the Chief of Staff, the Governor announced that the dissolution affects only Commissioners,” part of the statement reads.

The statement adds that the former Commissioners are directed to hand over to the permanent secretary of their Ministries as soon as possible.
