The Benue State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered another fatal blow as Mr. Terwase Aondoakaa, erstwhile member representing Makurdi South State Constituency and Chairman of PDP Local Government Chairmen in the state, has dumped the umbrella party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mr. Aondoakaa, on Wednesday, July 23, joined the broom party with hundreds of his supporters at the APC Secretariat in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
He said his decision to join the APC was borne out of love for his brother, Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the Governor of Benue State, who he said is passionate about the state’s development.
“Under this administration, pensioners can now smile, owed salaries have become a thing of the past. Even as assembly members, we were owed for several months, but the case is different at the moment.
“I am here to stay. Blood, they say, is thicker than water,” Mr. Aondoakaa stated.
The caretaker chairman of the party, Mr. Benjamin Omale, received him into the broom party.
Mr. James Ornguga, who represented the chairman, said that with Mr. Aondoakaa in APC, Makurdi, it will be a workover for his party.
The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and Guma Local Government Council (LGC) Chairman, Hon. Maurice Orwough, in welcoming Mr. Aondoakaa, expressed optimism that the former lawmaker will attract more members to the APC.
Meanwhile, Fr. Alia has assured Mr. Aondoakaa and his supporters of equal opportunities in the broom party. The governor was represented by Barr. Fidelis Mnyim, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and Public Order.
