Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has warned Nigerians against underestimating bathroom accidents, saying slippery floors, soap and faulty water heaters can cause fatal injuries.
The former senator’s warning came at the heels of revelations by Senator Abdul Ningi that a former Katsina lawmaker died following a bathroom accident, saying the incident should serve as a lesson to everyone.
Sani, in a public safety warning, said bathroom accidents had claimed many lives and caused spinal cord injuries and other forms of paralysis.
He cautioned that stepping on a wet floor, slipping on soap or rushing to pick up a phone could result in life-threatening injuries.
The former senator also warned that improperly installed water heaters posed electrocution risks, urging Nigerians to exercise caution whenever they used their bathrooms.
“The bathroom is a dangerous place that needs your full attention,” he warned, stressing the need for vigilance in a room where people are often alone and vulnerable.
