The battle for the Benue South Senatorial District seat has taken on a new dimension, with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Dr David Olofu, reportedly gaining ground in Enone.
The Olofu Campaign Organisation said the development followed the candidate’s “thank-you tour” of Enone on Thursday, September 3, describing the visit as a massive rejection of “tenure elongation” and an endorsement of Olofu’s bid to unseat incumbent Senator Abba Moro of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Director of Publicity of the campaign organisation, Mr. Rexino Oguchwe, said the tour achieved its objective as supporters allegedly rallied behind Olofu as their preferred senatorial candidate.
Using military metaphors, Oguchwe described the campaign team as “troops of regime change” who had returned to their “fortified Juba military base” after accomplishing their mission.
He said the campaign had also declared a “No Fly Zone” over Enone and laid “land mines” to restrict the entry of opposing political forces.
“The objectives were achieved as the people voted against tenure elongation by massively endorsing David Olofu as their sole senatorial candidate,” Oguchwe said.
