More than 900 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza this year despite a ceasefire, according to the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health.
The ministry said the death toll since the ceasefire was declared on October 10 has risen to more than 1,300, including 301 children.
The ceasefire followed an agreement by Israel and Hamas to implement US President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan, which called for an end to military operations, including aerial and artillery bombardment.
However, the ministry says Israeli attacks have continued almost monthly, with more than 100 people reportedly killed in each month from April to August. July recorded the highest toll, with 152 deaths, including 21 children.
The United Nations considers the ministry’s figures reliable, while independent groups monitoring the conflict say their findings broadly support the data. Israel disputes the figures, saying there is no basis to assume all those listed were killed by Israeli military action.
The Israeli military says it remains committed to the ceasefire but accuses Hamas and other armed groups of continued violations and threats.
UNICEF said more than 300 children have been killed since the ceasefire, describing the toll as “absurd and devastating”.
The continuing violence has raised concerns over the future of the ceasefire, with analysts warning that the attacks could become a major obstacle to efforts to implement Trump’s peace plan.
