US president Donald Trump has posted on social media for a second time in the last few hours, saying “the Countries of the World that receive Oil through the Hormuz Strait must take care of that passage, and we will help – A LOT!”
He said, “The US will also coordinate with those countries so that everything goes quickly, smoothly, and well.”
According to Trump, taking care of the passage “should have always been a team effort, and now it will be.”
Trump adds that the situation will “bring the world together toward Harmony, Security, and Everlasting Peace!”
Earlier, the US president urged the UK and other nations to send ships to help secure Strait of Hormuz after Iranian attacks.
In a post on Truth Social, the US president says despite “Iran’s attempted closure” of the passage, “one way or the other, we will soon get the Hormuz Strait OPEN, SAFE, and FREE!”
The UK Maritime Trade Operations says 16 ships operating in and around the Gulf and Strait of Hormuz have been attacked since the war started, writes the BBC in a report.
On Thursday, Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei vowed to keep blocking the strait. Earlier, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the lane was only closed to Iran’s “enemies.”
Meanwhile, strikes are continuing across the Middle East, with the Israeli military saying Iran has launched six waves of strikes on Saturday
An Iranian government spokesperson says 120 schools have been “severely damaged” in the last two weeks, while a woman from Karaj says her “life is basically paralysed” and all she can think about is “survival.”
