2027: Former CPS, Ikyur moves to unseat SGF’s wife, Rep Akume

Date:

Former Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor of Benue State, Mr. Nathaniel Ikyur of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), is set to replace Rep Regina Akume, wife of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) as member representing Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency in 2027.

This is not the first time that Mr. Ikyur will be contesting the election, having previously contested in 2003.

Speaking with TNT in Makurdi, the Benue State capital on his ambition, Mr. Ikyur said the election is “a friendly contest between a mother and a son.”

According to Mr. Ikyur, “there are no hard feelings. When a mother goes for a journey and the son feels he should go and help the mother, there is nothing wrong with that.”

The former CPS, who said he would be briefing journalists soon on his intention, is upbeat that he is contesting the election “to win, by the grace of God.”
