Former Director-General (DG) of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr. Paul Orhii, has dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Dr. Orhii, who contested the PDP ticket for the Benue Governorship election in 2019 and 2023, says in a letter to the PDP in his Atirkyese Council Ward, Ushongo Local Government Area (LGA), that his resignation from the umbrella party follows a wide consultation.
“After intensive consultation with my family, friends, thousands of my supporters and political associates locally, nationally and globally, I have decided to resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect,” Dr. Orhii stated in the letter.
He explained that his resignation would enable him to “join the coalition of other progressive-minded Nigerians in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on the rescue mission.”
Dr. Orhii was appointed DG of NAFDAC by the Musa Yar’Adua administration and reappointed by the Goodluck Jonathan-led government.
His resignation from the PDP further depletes the number of high-profile politicians in the Benue State Chapter of the PDP.
