A 10-month-old who survived the June 13 attacks on Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area (LGA), Benue State, by armed herdsmen, Aondosoo Targule Aya, has been discharged from the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) (now Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University Teaching Hospital) Makurdi.
Tsenzughul Moses, Acting Head, Public Relations and Protocol of the tertiary health facility, says in a statement that the 10-month-old was discharged on Thursday, July 17, “after months of medical care and recovery.”
Aondosoo sustained a machete cut on the left side of his buttocks during the deadly attacks, which left over 200 people, mainly children, women, and the elderly dead.
Those wounded in the attacks, including Aondosoo, were evacuated to BSUTH for medical attention.
Although Nigeria’s Defence Chief, General Chris Musa has declared Yelwata safe, hundreds of those displaced as a result of the attacks are still living at a temporary Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
